Inspectors Wanted

Look closely at the water, and carry its value into the future

Yuchelin's inspectors visit onsen across Japan and survey them against our own evaluation criteria.

Ahead of full operation of the system from fiscal 2027, we are expanding our survey capacity, recruiting and training people, and building the training and selection process.

As a rule, inspectors visit facilities without revealing their role and check and record, against set criteria, the character and freshness of the spring water, its rarity, how it is delivered and managed, and its environmental and cultural value.

The role calls for a sincere engagement with each onsen, one by one: unaffected by a facility's fame, reputation or personal taste, drawing on sound knowledge of onsen, and maintaining an objective and fair perspective.

To avoid special treatment by facilities and keep surveys fair and independent, we do not publish information about individual inspectors.

The Inspector's Role

  • Visit onsen facilities across Japan in person
  • Survey against Yuchelin's own evaluation criteria
  • Record spring quality and water handling objectively
  • Discover valuable onsen not yet widely known
  • Provide the information needed to select candidate facilities for certification

Preparing for full operation in fiscal 2027

We are currently developing the system — training content, selection methods, confidentiality and conflict-of-interest rules — to expand our survey capacity.

Details of open recruitment for inspectors will be announced on the official Yuchelin website once decided.

We look forward to meeting people who love onsen, see their value clearly, and will carry it into the future.
